The NFL is officially through the halfway point

Frank Gore Jersey , with every team having played at least eight games on their schedule. As such, we are seeing midseason awards and assessments. This week, SI columnist Albert Breer put together his midseason awards. However, instead of simply making his picks, he reached out to various league personnel to get their thoughts on MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year. He assembled a panel of 18 voters, and they offered up a single vote for each category (so effectively, every vote was a first place vote). The San Francisco 49ers ended up with some representation in the rookie categories. New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley received the most votes (12) for offensive rookie of the year, and 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey received one vote. Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard received the most votes (8) for defensive rookie of the year, and 49ers linebacker Fred Warner received one vote.McGlinchey has been a consistent force in run blocking, and has steadily improved as a pass blocker. You really could not ask for a much better rookie season from a top ten pick. He is all but assured of making the all-rookie team, and while linemen don’t win rookie of the year awards, he’s proving as good as most of the rookie class. It’s interesting to note that McGlinchey is second only to Baker Mayfield in Pro Football Focus’ latest rookie rankings. Mayfield has slipped these past few weeks, and currently ranks only one spot ahead of McGlinchey in their weekly rankings. That being said, barring a huge finish by Baker Mayfield or one of the other quarterbacks, Barkley would seem to be the favorite. Phillip Lindsey has 72 more rushing yards (and a better ypc), but Barkley actually leads all rookies in receiving yards (ALL rookies, not just running backs). If Barkley keeps it up, he’s taking home the award.Fred Warner has quietly chugged along as the 49ers Mike linebacker. He is fifth in the league in tackles http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authenti ... ner-jersey , and PFF ranks him eighth among all linebackers in run stop percentage. It’s not shocking however that Leonard tops the polling. He leads the NFL in tackles, and is second among rookies with four sacks. Basic counting stats don’t tell the whole picture, but this will likely stand out for media voters.PFF has Detroit Lions defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand at the top of their rankings, followed by Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates, Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James, and then Leonard. Warner gets no mention, as his grade is in the middle of the pack for linebackers. If Leonard maintains his pace, he will take home defensive rookie of the year. Warner won’t take home the award, but he stands a good chance of earning an all-rookie award as well. San Francisco 49ers links for Saturday May 18, 2019"In the opening monologue of the classic film “The Big Lebowski”, Sam Elliott as the narrator says: “..sometimes there’s a man. I won’t say a hero, ‘cause what’s a hero? ... But sometimes. There’s a man who, well, he’s the man for his time’n place, he fits right in there. And that’s the Dude.. “And in the movie, that man was The Dude. But for the 49ers, in 2017, that man was C.J. Beathard. You see, when Shanahan and Lynch took over the 49ers in early 2017, the team was inshambles, and there wasn’t a single QB on the roster. Now, they quickly signed Brian Hoyer, but he was a journeyman. A retread. And did nothing to inspire the long suffering fan base. But then Womens Ronnie Lott Jersey , a light. Thanks to shrewd manuevering by Lynch and Shanahan in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft - a hero was born: C.J. Beathard. A swashbuckling, mustachioed QB from Iowa Univerity, with the reflexes of an injured water buffalo, and arm strength comparable to your Uncle Frank throwing a wet nerf football in the above ground pool at the family BBQ, while simultaneosly balancing a bottle of Coors Light on his belly. And just like that, the fan base was reinvigorated. Energized. We waited patiently. And then, it happened. In week 6, Beathard charged onto the field - replacing a struggling Brian Hoyer - and lead the 49ers and new coach Kyle Shanahan... to their sixth straight loss of the season. But he didn’t stop there. Beathard then proceed to place the entire team on his back, and carry them to three straight additional defeats by a combined score of 93-30. And yet, the fanbase remained loyal. And in week 10, we were rewarded, as CJ lead a ragtag bunch of Aldrick Robinson’s and Legar Douzables to a 31-21 victory over the 1-7 Giants, securing the first win of the Shanahan/Lynch era, and securing his own spot in 49ers lore forever. So. Is CJ Beathard a hero? Well, I won’t say a hero, because what is a hero? But sometimes. Well, sometimes there’s a man. And in three months, when the 49ers inevitably trade or release him, I’ll always remember that there was a time in 2017 - for however brief it was - that CJ Beathard was that man. And now onto the links! : 49ers 2019 ‘Who is?’ series: Offensive Lineman Daniel Brunskill (Panacy)Ted Ginn says Beyonce may have cost the 49ers a Super Bowl win (Ting)49ers only get 4 wins in early score projections (Madson)49ers roster battle: Slot corner may produce pro-bowl caliber starter (Madson)Nick Mullens embracing competition for 49ers backup job (Alper)For 49ers, Offense Still Gets Plenty of ‘Juice’ (D.Williams)What does future hold for defensive end Solomon Thomas (Panacy)49ers host football camps on Oahu (Clayton)
